Statement from the Race Directors

Thank you for being patient as we navigate through this difficult time. We ALL want to get back to racing as we knew it before COVID-19. We’ve been waiting and hoping by some chance it would happen for the 2020 Fox Valley Marathon Races. However, we’ve reached a critical time in planning where a decision must be made. Given what we know right now, we feel the responsible decision is to implement a Virtual PLUS race for the 2020 Fox Valley Marathon Races.

As with a typical virtual race, A Virtual PLUS race is one that you run or walk at whatever location and time suits you best, but ours is different in that we offer the PLUS:

A race shirt (as ordered at time of registration)
2020 commemorative medal
Personalized race bib (Must register before 8/1)
Race logo reflector or light (Available to the first 1,000 to register for curbside packet pickup)
Personalized Finisher Certificate (Downloadable)
Age Group Champion Coffee Mug Award (Must register for curbside packet pickup by 8/1 and limited to the first 1,000 to register)
Multi-Year Streak Endurance Medal (Based on registration selection and qualification)
Personalized Endurance Streak Finisher Certificate (Downloadable)
5-Year Endurance Quarter Zip (Based on registration selection and qualification)
8-Year Endurance Medal Rack (Based on registration selection and qualification)
6″ Chicagoland Triple Crown or Valley & ‘Ville Medal (Based on Registration – Pickup at 10/18 Naperville Race)

When do I Run my Virtual Race?

Run your virtual race anytime between 9/1 – 9/30 and send us your results via email at info@fv26.com.

Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately as is customary and necessary in race production there are no refunds. However, we do offer race deferral options each year. In the event that conditions mandate, we will move to a Virtual Plus race option which will ensure that every registered runner can participate, receive unparalleled runner premiums as well as Endurance credit for participating this year.

Can I Defer to the 2021 Fox Valley Marathon Races?

I’m not familiar with a virtual race, what is it?

A Virtual PLUS race is one that you run or walk at whatever location and time suits you best. Packet pickup will be at a curbside location, mailed, or hand delivered. Runners finish their race miles on their own time at their preferred location

Why can’t you have the actual race?

While our intentions and planning are focused on producing the same great Naperville Half & 5K that runners enjoy each year, unfortunately this year’s pandemic has understandably caused most 2020 events across the country this year to be cancelled or postponed. While conditions continue to change daily the health and well-being of all participants and spectators is our utmost concern and decisions will always be made with that as our #1 priority.

What about my Endurance streak?

If you register for the virtual race your Endurance medal (and/or 5-year finisher quarter zip) will be in your packet (curbside or mailed). If you are due a medal rack this year for your 8 year streak, it cannot be mailed. You can pick it up curbside or at next year’s race.

What if I don’t want to run a virtual race?

Now that the Fox Valley Marathon Races will be virtual your only other option would be to defer your entry to 2021 prior to 8/1/2020.

Can I run a shorter race than I registered for?

As is our policy each year, runners can always run any distance shorter than what they registered for and still be an official finisher.

How do I register for the virtual race?

What about my Triple Crown/Valley Ville medal?

If you signed up for these and meet the qualifications, upon finishing the Naperville Half you will receive (along with your many other items listed above) your Challenge Medal too!

How Will Packet Pickup Work?

Runners will have curbside pickup options or an end of September mailing option. See our packet pickup page for details.

Will the Course Preview Runs Still Occur?

We are still hoping to host this year’s 4 training runs, modified to fit social distancing practices with runners safety as a top priority, if our region’s transition into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan has gone safely. Please see our Course Preview Run page for details and updates.
